What makes a beach blanket sand-free?

Ordinary beach towels are made from cotton terry – thousands of tiny loops that grab sand and hold on to it. A sand-free beach blanket uses a tightly woven, smooth synthetic surface instead, so sand has nothing to cling to. When you pack up, pick it up by two corners and give it a shake: the sand falls back onto the beach instead of ending up in your car, your bag and your hallway.

What size beach blanket do I need?

A standard beach towel is made for one person. At 2m × 2m, the XO blanket gives you four square metres – enough for two adults to stretch out side by side, or a family to sit together with snacks, a book and a beach bag without spilling onto the sand.

If you mostly go to the beach solo, a big blanket still pays off: you can lie down fully in the shade of an umbrella instead of half on, half off a towel.

Are sand-free beach blankets really sand-free?

Sand will still land on the blanket while you use it – it’s a beach. The difference is that it doesn’t stick. The smooth woven surface lets sand slide off with a quick shake, unlike cotton towels, which trap sand in their loops.

Is the XO beach blanket waterproof?

It’s water-resistant and quick-dry rather than fully waterproof. It handles damp sand and wet swimmers well and dries fast in the sun.

How does the umbrella slot work?

Open the slot, slide the blanket around your beach umbrella or cabana pole, then close it with the Velcro strip. The blanket stays put around the pole, so you stay in the shade.

How do I stop my beach blanket blowing away?

Can I use it as a picnic blanket?
